I always wondered why people delete their blogs when they do something to have people say rude shit to them, but I now understand why. I didn’t originally consider the second hand smoke hurting Quincy. I smoke outside with him near me on the picnic table at times, I didn’t think it would bother him cause it’s usually windy and I don’t blow smoke at him. Clearly, I was wrong in that thought. In the picture you can’t even see smoke coming from it, ‘cause it was going out, and the hot end wasn’t on his nose. I’ve held a blunt that close to the end and not gotten burnt so I didn’t think it would burn him, especially since he’s usually relaxed and doesn’t jerk around. I see that this was careless animal care, and I definitely need to be more mindful, including not having him around at all when we smoke. I do my best to care for him, feed him right, take him outside on hot days for a little sunshine, and even have a whole safe room with a heating pad for him to run around and get exercise. I get that in retrospect it was unsafe and I really do feel shitty as well as understand where I was incorrect. But woowww at all the harsh words.

Most of what you said are excuses “the wind was blowing the smoke away, it was going out, the hot part wasn’t close to his face (which it definitely was), etc” all excuses.
But other than your excuses, it does seem like you love your pet but please be more respectful towards him. You wouldn’t do this to a child.

I could get where you see that as excuses, I honestly just didn’t consider much at the time besides mentioning it might bother his eyes. Which I don’t mean as an excuse because it isn’t, it was air headed, I just mean to explain I had no harm in my intention. I do love him, and certainly will be more thoughtful & respectful in his care.

Thank you for being willing to not have smoke around your lizard, youre a very good person from learning from a mistake and not exploding like other people in the same situation

Of course, I love Quincy and do my best to give him the care he deserves. I hadn’t considered it would bug him originally, cause he’s walked near/into it on his own and just licked the air and chilled. But considering it I could see where it could be bad for him. Thank you, I appreciate that. I’m glad people corrected me I just wish it could be done in a more respectful manner in some cases!

Your boyfriend is fucking trash for doing that to that poor animal. Please educate him on bearded dragons and tell him it's lethal to do that shit to any animal.

Neither he nor I was trying to do anything harmful to our dragon. I know he didn’t consider possible repercussions because it only lasted a minute or less, and now that I have clearly seen that it could be harmful, I’ll keep that shit away from him. We’re always looking at those cute dragon posts when they’ve got hats or lil costumes and that was originally my thought when I took the picture.

Tumblr is funny, I never get reblogs or replies on my posts about Quincy. The one time I post something apparently questionable, suddenly everyone’s interested in giving me their opinion? I was taking already pictures of him, at the time, when my boyfriend put it on him, I said it wasn’t totally safe, he said he’d be fine for a second, I took the pic, he removed it. His nose is fine and I had no intention of harming him cause if you look the hot end isn’t on his nose at all. But my bad cause clearly everyone else seems to think I’m doing something extremely harmful to him so I must’ve been incorrect.

This is the kind of shit I hate. Stop doing this kind of crap to your animals, people.

To the both of you, my boyfriend literally set it down on his nose for two seconds when I was already taking pics of Quincy, and he usually willingly will walk into the smoke and get on us if we’re smoking. However I wasn’t aware their lungs are more sensitive but I did make sure his nose was alright after we grabbed it off. My bad if it was something harmful to them, it’s not like I go around daily putting blunts on him. I do appreciate the info about their lungs being sensitive tho, I’ll definitely keep him outta the smoke in that case.
